You Are Not Super Mom

Super Mom

Do you ever feel like you are drowning and just not doing it right?  We look over to Pinterest and see all these awesome and amazing crafts and homes and recipes and wonder how anyone ever finds the time to do it all.  You are a wife, a mom, your children’s teacher, and so much more. Sometimes something has to give.  I just hope that something is not our sanity.

We are our own worst critic.  We judge our worst days by everyone else’s best days.  We see our dirty living rooms, the dishes in the sink, the laundry that keeps getting rewashed because we forgot about it, and our kids fighting, and we tell ourselves that we must be failures.  I want you to know right now that you are not a failure.  You are human and you are not supposed to be Super Mom!  We are not supposed to be able to do it all.  When we try to do it all we will fail each and every time. We need help.  We need our partners helping us.  We need to rely on the LORD.

When we see Super Mom, I will guarantee you that you are not seeing the whole picture.  We don’t know what she is sacrificing behind the scenes.  Something is going to give; we just may not be able to see it.  I also will presume that she doesn’t think that she is Super Mom or has it all together. Someone out there is also looking at you and thinking, “She must be Super Mom,” because you are homeschooling and holding it all together.

We all have all heard, “Pick your battles and know which hill to die on.”  I think that we need to know which battles to pick for the day. I will tell you that some days a peanut butter and honey sandwich is what we have for dinner.  I have spent time running around to kids activities, cleaned the house, taught school, done a load of laundry, and I just don’t have anything left to give.  There are other days when I have had a great project with the kids during school and dinner planned out, and the living room stays a mess.  There are times when I just want to stay home and not go out to another activity, so I don’t and we stay home.  I pick my battles.  I know that some days I need to be able to give in one area of my life so other areas can have more importance.  I have to tell myself that I can’t do it all and that is okay.

Please remind yourself today that you are not Super Mom and that is okay for you not to be.  Also remind yourself that there is no Super Mom out there.

  1. Yes I have to rewash the clothes many times because I forget to switch the laundry around :( Loved this post. Reminded me that I don’t have to get everything done in one day.

    • Stacie,

So glad that this reminded you that not everything has been done on one day. Now when can we get a system that will wash, fold and put away all that laundry???

  2. Most definitely, we’re probably all feel inadequate at some point during our time with the kids. Must remember that we don’t have to be perfect.
